field is applied theory, with
emphasis on the theory of matching: 1. Theoretical models that develop tools and testable results for applied theory: frictionless matching and search in the marriage problem, learning, and bargaining foundations of Walrasian equilibrium. 2. Applications of the theory to economic issues including knowledge spillovers, economic institutions, inequality in the size distribution of relevant economic variables, and discrimination.
