Undergraduate Programs- Requirements for a Sociology Minor

 

For Students Declaring the Minor After Spring 2001:

Minimum Requirement 6 c.u.

1. 1 c.u. must be Sociology 1, Introduction to Sociology.

2. 1 c.u. must be a course in sociological theory approved by the department: Sociology 125, Classical Sociological Theory; Sociology 126, Contemporary Sociological Theory; or other theory course which may be offered from time to time.

3. 1 c.u. Must be Sociology 100, Introduction to Sociological Research.

4. 3 c.u. may be any courses in Sociology.

For Students Declaring the Minor Through Spring 2001:

Minimum Requirement 6 c.u.

1. Sociology 100 - Introduction to Sociological Research

2. Sociology 125, 126, or 102 - Classical or Contemporary Sociological Theory or The City in Social Theory.

3. Three courses in an approved area of concentration, one at the 500 level. Areas of concentration include:

-sociology of culture
-deviance and the sociology of the law
-sociology of health and medicine
-structures of opportunity and inequality
-urban sociology

4. One additional course in sociology.
