TIN Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Q: How do I use tin?
A: Type "tin" at the Unix prompt.

  2. Q: How do I change options in tin?
A: There are two ways. You can manually edit your ~/.tin/tinrc file, or you can use the "M" command from with tin (capital M).

  3. Q: How do I get online help for tin?
A: Press "h" at any time to get a help screen.

  4. Q: When I post an article, and then go to read it in the news group, the subject is there but the text of my article does not show up.

A: This happens when tin invokes your editor with the +6 flag which some editors don't understand -- most likley you will find the text of your article in a file called "+6" in your home directory. To fix this problem, edit your ~/.tin/tinrc file and on the line which begins default_editor_format: remove the part of the line reading "+%N" and it will now work.
